About the workshop
Screen printing is a form of stencilling that first appeared in a recognizable form in China during the Song Dynasty (960–1279 AD). Later, it was adapted by other Asian countries such as Japan, and the art was furthered with the creation of new techniques.
In this screen printing workshop, you will learn from master crafter, Eve Lim on how to use Peranakan Tile designs to create your very own unique fabric artwork!
What you will experience
In this workshop, you will learn the different aspects of the screen printing process. From using a wooden screen frame and mounting a stencil, to the various types of fabric paints, and how to colour mix to achieve a unique colour. You will also learn how to use the various squeegees and receive tips on achieving the perfect image in every print as well as care techniques and how to produce your own screen prints on various fabrics at home!
At the end of the workshop, you will have not just one, but two art pieces to bring home! These include an A4 size tote bag along with a 6x6cm tile magnet with your very own Peranakan tile designs!
