About the workshop
Sashiko, literally "little stabs" or "little pierce", is an embroidery technique of running stitches from Japan that started out of practical need during the Edo era (1615-1868). Traditionally used to reinforce points of wear or to repair worn fabrics with patches, its repetition creates a Boro piece.
Got a hole in your favourite top or a tear in your denim jeans? Come and learn how to repair it creatively and save it from the landfills! Or what if all your garments are in perfect condition and needs no repairing? Bring along something you don't wear anymore! Learn how to give your old clothes a new life by applying visible mending techniques that will add colour and texture to your garments. Not to mention, you will also pick up some useful sewing tips and learn to apply the Sashiko techniques and Boro aesthetics to any garment!
