About the workshop
Chinese Paper Cutting, 剪紙 [jiǎn zhǐ] is a folk art which originated from China. In the past, Chinese Paper Cutting was done for ancient activities - worshipping of ancestors and gods.
Red is the most commonly used colour as it represents prosperity. Cut-out patterns are often formed by Chinese characters representing Chinese zodiac animals. Today, Chinese Paper Cutting have intricate designs and are used as decorations to adorn walls, mirrors and more.
Nestled within the hutongs of the arts & crafts enclave Tianzifang, no prior experience is needed to enjoy this fruitful experience under the tutelage of 汪老师 [wāng lǎo shī], a crafter with over 40 years of experience.
