Wok with Shanghai!
Become an expert at Wok cooking AND Shanghainese cuisine!
About the workshop
Shanghai - a vibrant city on par with the cosmopolitanism of New York City, is a place of multiple cultures and cuisines. If you only have two days in Shanghai, we recommend you to take our Shanghainese Wok Class, where you will learn how to be a Wok Master of Shanghainese cuisine!
Shanghainese Cuisine (Hu Cuisine) is also known as Ben Bang Cai (English: “Local Cuisine”, Chinese: 本帮菜; Pinyin: Běnbāng cài), originated from the Ming and Qing Dynasties (c. 1368-1840). It’s inspiration comes from the seasonings, flavours and ingredients borrowed from surrounding provinces Jiangsu and Zhejiang. This became especially prevalent in the later 19th century, after Shanghai became a major international and domestic trading port.
In this workshop, we will focus mainly on Hu Cuisine’s Wok Dishes and give you a choice of five menus to choose your workshop itinerary from!
