About the workshop

Eating sticky rice dumplings are a must during The Dragon Boat Festival. In Singapore, these rice dumplings are called 粽子 (zong zi) or Bakzang, with an emphasis on the bak! The Dragonboat Festival, is also called the Dumpling Festival, and is traditionally celebrated on the fifth day of the fifth month of the Chinese lunar calendar. Delicious bamboo leaf-wrapped steamed glutinous rice dumplings can be seen eaten by families everywhere, with four main types being sold by hawkers all around our little island.

In this workshop, you'll learn how to make all four dumplings in a hands-on workshop with Jia Lei's experienced chefs.

Jia Lei Cooking School was established in 1984 and has graduated over 10,000 students since inception. Priding itself on a mutual love of food and all things cuisine-related, Jia Lei makes sure that all their cooking classes are fun, educational and interactive - perfect for newbies and oldies in the kitchen alike!
