About the workshop

Letterpressing is an art form that has been preserved and evolved throughout the years since its invention in China in 1040AD. Up till the 20th century, it remained the primary way of printing and distributing information through newspapers and books. In this workshop, you will learn the basics of typography, the anatomy of a type and the various tools involved in typesetting in our composing room.

Students will learn typesetting in stages: layout, lockup, make-ready, ink & colour and packing. Look forward to checking out our in-house printing press and receive hands-on guidance on operating it on your own. Students will print their own quotes card in letterpress metal types using the printing press.
