About the workshop

Sashiko stitching is a hand-sewing technique that originated in ancient Japan. It developed during the Edo period (1615–1868) and was a well-established technique by the Meiji era (1868–1912). Sashiko is considered a folk technique because it was developed and used by the peasant classes.

In this engaging workshop, add a personal touch to your table with your very own personalized coasters! Using recycled garments and the Sashiko technique to create your very own designs, everyone will bring home two coasters of their own. Whether you’re enjoying your morning cup of coffee or having dinner with your family, a coaster of your own design is sure to make the moment much more satisfying!
