Love Salad? Potter out your own salad bowl!
Get back to the stone ages and work with clay to make your own salad bowl!
About the workshop
This Salad bowl making workshop is suitable for potters who have prior experience (or for those up to the challenge!) in pottery. Participants will be working on the electric wheel guided by our instructors, and with Singapore's own Punggol Clay!
Pottery itself is a universal language that dates all the way back to the New Stone Age, and here in Singapore, being a multiracial country we have our own approach when it comes to working with clay. Take a break from the hustle and bustle and connect with yourself through this therapeutic session.
What you will experience
1. A brief history of the local pottery scene
2. Work on a type of clay found only in Singapore, called “Punggol Clay”, ie “Purple Clay”
3. Introduction to more advanced pottery techniques
4. Learn to wedge and cone the “Punggol Clay” through use of an electric wheel, i.e a potter’s wheel
5. Experience Centering and Throwing on the electric wheel
This workshop includes: all materials (tools and local Punggol Clay), the tutorial of fundamental wedging, centering and throwing techniques, and light refreshments (make yourself a cup of tea!)
