Get Creative with Batik! (Group Sessions)
Creativity has no limits in this traditional Batik workshop!
About the workshop
In this workshop, two instructors will give students the introduction to the art and craft of Batik painting relating to South East Asian heritage. Participants will get to experience creating their own materpiece by using traditional tools such as the tjanting (see pictures!) to draw desired patterns with wax resist technique. Students can further continue with the use of advance dyeing techniques and learn how to make fabrics colourfast.
Originally from Java, traditional Batik technique for fabric design retains its popularity today as an interesting medium for contemporary painting.
