5 Great Recommendations for Planning Your “Singapoliday”! (Updated December 2020)

Recently, the government rolled out an economy-boosting “SingapoRediscover” package targeted at increasing spending in the local tourism sector. Under the package, Singaporeans above 18 years of age are entitled to a $100 voucher, redeemable from 1st Dec onwards and valid till end June 2021.

Us travel enthusiasts looking to satisfy our yearly itch for a holiday are unfortunately unable to fly domestically, unlike in other countries.  Perhaps, it is time to become tourists in our own country and explore our vibrant city-state that is brimming with culture! You might just be surprised with irresistible experiences if you are willing to give it a shot! Here are 5 ideas for those of you planning your Singapoliday itinerary with your loved ones!

For marine life enthusiasts, S.E.A Aquarium offers an exploration of the ocean realm. Housing over 10 000 sea creatures ranging from hammerhead sharks to bottlenose dolphins, visitors can get up close and personal with sea life at the Touch Pool, and indulge in a breathtaking experience in the largest Open Ocean panoramic aquarium in Southeast Asia!   Thrill-junkies can also head to the Skyline Luge at Sentosa for a racing session that is bound to make your heart pump! Speeding down a 1.2km race track on a go-kart like sled, racers are in full control. Where else would you be able to speed to your heart’s desire without worrying about being fined by the traffic police!. A word of warning, the experience is VERY addictive and 1.2km will not be enough… My advice is to book 4 rounds of Skyline Luge at just $28/pax through the discounted bundle on Klook, which comes with one trip on Sentosa’s renowned Skyride, giving you a scenic view across Sentosa’s horizon.

Price: Promotion at $28/pax

Duration: 20 minutes per ride

Family/kid-friendly: Tandem rides available for kids below 6 and 110cm in height

5. Visit Jewel Changi Airport

While most of us are familiar with our multi-award winning aviation hub/ retail complex Jewel Changi Airport for its shopping and dining options, it might come as a surprise that the mall actually has attractions worthy of a visit during our “Singapoliday”!

Apart from Rain Vortex, which draws eyes from all over the world being the world’s tallest and largest indoor waterfall, Jewel also boasts its Canopy Park, Hedge/Mirror Maze and Sky Net attractions. Upon entry into the Canopy Park on the topmost floor, you will notice the suspension bridge with a glass panel flooring that provides a mesmerising view through to the first floor! Chilling with your loved ones in the misty overlay amongst the flora and fauna of Shiseido Floral Valley makes this attraction truly deserving of a spot in our itinerary!

For those who love climbing and exploring, the Sky Nets will definitely be a fun experience for all ages! As the name suggests, visitors will be able to experience being on cloud nine suspended over 8 metres above ground on the 250 metre long Bouncing Net!

If you have a phobia of height, fear no more! Head straight to their Canopy Mazes containing Mirror Maze and Singapore’s largest Hedge Maze to get a view over the mesmerizing Hedge Maze design. Enter the maze and be surprised by motion sensors which trigger flora springing up as you walk past! The Mirror Maze offers an entirely different experience from most of the nature-themed entertainment in Jewel. To not get lost you should bring a compass in, otherwise there will be no way to tell apart the walkway from the mirrors! Jokes aside, the Mirror Maze offers a balance of aesthetics and merriment, which would be perfect for both kids and adults to enjoy an afternoon together.

Price: Starting from$4.50/pax to $80 (Family bundle)

Duration: Up to a day

Family/kid-friendly: Yes!

Hopefully these carefully curated deals can earn a spot in your “Singapoliday” planning! While the regulations have been relaxed and it's time for all of us to take a break after a long year, we should still do our due diligence when exploring and keep Singapore safe even with Phase 3’s introduction! Happy holidays, have fun and keep safe!
